The International Day of Yoga has been celebrated annually on 21 June since 2015, following its inception in the United Nations General Assembly in 2014. Yoga is a physical, mental and spiritual practice which originated in India. Yoga is a powerful tool to deal with the stress of uncertainty and isolation, as well as to maintain physical well-being.
The World Health Organization mentions yoga as a means to improve health in its Global action plan on physical activity 2018–2030: more active people for a healthier world.
This year’s (2020) theme is “Yoga at Home and Yoga with Family”.
